So let me say this, I might be a bit partial since I am German and Lidl is a German Grocery Store. I love both Lidl and Aldi. Having Lidl in Dumfries is great. What do I love about having a Lidl close by?
Fresh Bread:
They offer a section of fresh bread, my boyfriend really loves their Berliners or jelly field donuts as they are called in the US. They also offer Laugenbroetchen and pretzels. Always fresh. There are lots of other fresh bakery items like cookies and more.
International Food Section
Lidl offers an international food section. They always have great German items but also other items. Since I am German I am partial to German food of course. I just found German Christmas cookies, chocolate ornaments and more.
Fruits and Vegetables
I have to admit I am not really going to Lidl for fruits or vegetables but they do have really good pre-made salads that I normally grab when I am there. Also they do offer fresh fruits and vegetables at a reasonable price.
Alcohol
So they offer some excellent wine at low prices. I don’t really like beer or anything else but I always like to check out their wine selection and have found some favorites there.
Special Items
I love orchids and the other day I went to Lidl they sold orchids for a great price. I normally go to Ikea for inexpensive Orchids but Lidl offers some great plants. Additionally they always have some special items they are selling. The middle isle at Lidl offers seasonal items or whatever might be selling at a certain time. From tools to clothing items and more.
